It’s been almost four years since I’ve been on this journey of food blogging and discovering places to eat around the city. In my journey over last few years I have made and met a lot of new people, some of them having to become an important part in my life and good friends.
Ashfina from the wicked soul (www.thewickedsoul.com) is one of them and with her I have explored a lot more new places, in not just town (south Bombay)! On a Monday afternoon, we both headed to a cafe called The Big Mug, a quaint little cafe located in the by lanes of Andheri, with a lot of known cafes and restaurants around.
From what I have understood is to find good cafes in Mumbai that serve good iced coffee; fortunately or unfortunately, we are still on the lookout for the same.
Value for money:4/5
As it was a sunny day, we tried the iced Americano and latte to begin with, so we could cool down a little. The iced coffees were good, but I’ve had better.Up next was the paneer tikka sandwich which I gorged on while we were busy figuring out our next move playing UNO. The sandwich was good, flavourful and delicious.
One of the specialties here is the Mexican mocha which is creamy coffee with different flavours in it especially hints of cinnamon and other Mexican masalas, as I’d like to call it. Is topped with glitter, making it fancy and looks pretty. I’d recommend this for those who like to experiment with their coffee, or those who like different spicy flavours in their beverage. We spent a few hours here playing games and catching up, and were in the mood to have something sweet before we left so we tried the cookie and a chocolate truffle pastry and a muffin. The cookie was alright, the pastry felt very average, similar to the taste of a piece from the monginis cake (which is not my favourite).
The Big Mug is a place where you can spend a couple of hours over decent coffee, playing games and enjoying a bite to eat while you’re at it. It’s cozy and nice, staff is friendly and it’s not too heavy on the pocket. Average price for two approximately ₹500.Which is your favourite cafe for coffee or around Andheri? I’d love to hear your suggestions and check them out the next time I’m the area.
